The incident took place at Chuniapatal village in Satpoya union of the upazila on Thursday night (May 19). The deceased was identified as Krishak, son of late Abdur Rashid of Chuniapatal village in the upazila.
According to local sources, last Thursday (May 19) at around 9 pm in the rain, farmer Osman and brother Motaleb went to cover the paddy in the backyard with triphala. Motaleb and Osman were seriously injured in the lightning strike. When the family members rescued them and brought them to the Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared Osman dead.
Another injured Abdul Motaleb was treated locally, Dr Tahmid Hasan, on duty at the Upazila Health Complex, told reporters.
